The year 1982 marked the beginning of the Auburnmist Goldens, which Wendy is known for today, with her first litter from some top English and American lines. To date, Wendy has produced some top winning Goldens in Canada, and multiple Best in Specialty winners, as well as in the USA. Auburnmist Goldens have consistently won under many international Breeder/Judges on both sides of the border.

Initially Wendy was only interested in the conformation side of the purebred dog world. After meeting her husband Keith, she changed direction slightly to maintain the intelligence and trainability, the Golden Retriever has become known for, producing many Performance Dogs with great success.

In 1995, Wendy and Keith opened the Auburnmist Training Centre Inc., a Canine Education centre for Obedience and Agility. In recent years, they have retired from teaching performance sports/events but still teach conformation handling for all purebreds.

Over the years, Wendy has consistently been involved with breed clubs, serving as an officer or director. She is presently the President of the Alberta Kennel Club, which organises Canada’s largest Dog Show. The Club is host for many breed/group specialties.
